We are looking for individuals to work at our Thrift Store! This position is funded through A4TD which helps employ those 55+. Volunteer Program Specialist

50 Forward Mohawk Valley (formerly Parkway Center) is a non-profit organization, who mission is to provide programs and services to individuals 50+, empowering them to live healthy and vibrant lives.  50 Forward MV is the sponsor agency for the Oneida County AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Volunteer Resource Center. Way 2 Go Herkimer and Oneida County and a partner in the Livable Communities Oneida County initiative.

The Volunteer Program Specialist will be committed to achieving the following results:

·         Assesses volunteer needs of the community

·         Perform volunteer recruitment and placement for Volunteer programs

·         Interview and place volunteers in community assignments

·         Provide information and support to volunteers

·         Coordinate and monitor volunteer assignments

·         Incorporate programming for impact and performance measurement principles

·         Develop and maintain close coordination with volunteer stations

·         Recruit Volunteer Stations throughout Oneida County

·         Assist with the Volunteer Resource Center

·         Provide oversight and support to volunteer transportation programs

·         Perform data collection and database management.

·         Submit data reports as needed.

·         Perform promotion/outreach in the community

·         Plan National Days of Service and Annual Recognition Event

·         Participate in CarFit, AARP Safe Driver, One Click One Call and other transportation projects.

·         Assist with Oneida County Livable Communities Action Plan projects

·         Attend trainings and meetings as necessary to the position

·         Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or the Executive Director

Qualifications:

·         Associates Degree preferred

·         Experience working with volunteers preferred

·         Excellent Computer and Technical skills, including database management

·         Excellent communication/customer service skills

·         Valid & Clean NYS Driver’s License & own vehicle required

·         Local travel required

50 Forward Mohawk Valley f/k/a The Parkway Center advocates for the developing needs of the senior community by providing resources to empower people to remain healthy and active. 50 Forward MV has tripled its membership in the past three years and continues to grow annually with over 1,100 members at its site in Utica and programs countywide and opened a second site in Verona Beach.  We are committed to providing programs to help stay healthy and independent so as to have them remain active members of their communities.

The Wellness Education Coordinator will be committed to achieving the following results:

·         Plan, develop, coordinate and implement health and wellness evidenced based programs

·         Plan and schedule classes, volunteers, and speakers for wellness programs

·         Communicate, coordinate and promote wellness programs on and off site

·         Attain certification for wellness programs as necessary

·         Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for wellness programs as needed

·         Maintain fidelity and integrity of wellness programs

·         Conduct program assessment and surveys

·         Compile statistical summaries of participant data

·         Prepare reporting on impact for wellness programming and initiatives

·         Maintain necessary matetrials needed for wellness programs

·         Keep abreast of current national wellness initiatives and activities

·         Develop a network of resources and contacts to strengthen programming and knowledge

·         Maintain active involvement in committees and coalitions relevant to the wellness programs

·         Perform any other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director or the Executive Director

Qualifications:

•             Associates Degree preferred

•             Experience in Wellness, Health, Nutrition, Physical Fitness

•             Excellent Communication/Customer Service skills

•             Valid & Clean NYS Driver’s License & own vehicle for travel

•             Ability to travel

•             Highly motivated

•             Able to work independently and as part of a team

    • Senior Center: $30 per year for renewals, and $35 per year for new members
    • Fitness Room and Membership: $80.00 per year for renewals, and $85.00 per year for new members
    • Lifetime Membership: $250
    Includes security card. All memberships are due one (1) year after joining, and your membership will begin on the 1st day of the month in which you join.

    • Time: 12:00
    • Suggested Donations: $2 for 60+ years old and $8 for under 60
    • You must sign up the day before you plan to have lunch
