Workshops:
The Parkway Center offers several transportation workshops, if you are interested in having Way2Go present at your agency please contact us.
Transport Options
The Way2Go “Transport options” is a workshop for ALL that talks about transportation education as a two-way street! During the workshop each participant will receive a binder packed with information to help people take charge of their transportation. You can remove pages, make copies, and review your options. Transportation is a basic need for individuals in Herkimer and Oneida Counties, whether you are commuting to and from work, trying to get to a doctor’s appointment, grocery store, or even just going to see family or friends. Please see our video below for more information on this workshop:
Retiring from Driving
“Retiring from Driving” is a collection of information that helps seniors or caregivers understand, compare, choose, use, and give feedback on transportation options in Herkimer and Oneida Counties. You can use your Transportoptions binder to learn more about the transportation programs and services available, help people make informed choices about their mobility options, educate people about all of the available resources that may help them get to where they need to go, and find the easiest and least expensive way possible.
YOU can help take charge of community transportation! You can view the Retiring from Driving presentation below, and you can click on the button to download the Retiring from Driving Workshop Companion.
CarFit – Helping Mature Drivers Fine Their Perfect Fit
CarFit is an educational program created by the American Society on Aging and developed in collaboration with AAA , AARP, and the American Occupational Therapy Association. This workshop promotes continued safe driving and mobility among older drivers by focusing attention on senior driver placement in their vehicle. This workshop creates an open environment that promotes conversations about driving. Certified technicians provide information, education, and community-based resources to older drivers.
A CarFit check-up is done by appointment and is designed to take no longer than 20 minutes to assess the “fit” between the vehicle and the driver.
