TITLE: Volunteer Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Driver
DUTIES: Transport Oneida County Seniors to and from non-emergency medical appointments
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 55 years or older
Must have valid New York State driver’s license and clean driving record
Access to a reliable vehicle with a current vehicle registration and vehicle insurance card
No criminal record
Genuine concern for others
Reliable and punctual
Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
Access to telephone; able to use and follow a schedule
Ability to keep accurate mileage records in accordance with given procedures
BENEFITS AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS: IRS Tax-Free Reimbursement of mileage at the current rate of $.505 /mile, tolls and parking with printed receipts, and excess liability insurance. The reimbursement you earn will not affect Social Security Disability, Food Stamps, or SSI status. The rate is tied to the Federal government’s allowance which means that any reimbursement at $.505 /mile and below is not considered income.
TITLE: CarFit Volunteer Technician
DUTIES: Assist the CarFit Event Coordinator in conducting a CarFit event. CarFit is a program that gives information while also assisting older drivers improve the “fit” of their vehicles for safety and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 55 years or older
Must be willing to submit a background investigation
Must be able to bend over, stoop down, assist someone else in walking
Genuine observational and communication skills
Demonstrates good time management skills
Good demeanor in addressing the potentially stress-provoking topic of driving
